New Driveway Connecting to Overflow Parking
Updated: 4 days ago
As you can probably remember, we had a couple of major events during heavy rains, when the bottom part of our property experiences considerable levels of flooding. Fortunately, our driveway has a concrete culvert, so that cars normally can safely cross the little stream flowing near our entry gate during flooding.
However, the access to the paddock below the Dhammahall, where we usually have our overflow-parking for major events, is blocked even by light flooding.
To solve this problem, Gary has planned and organised construction of a new connection from existing driveway to the overflow parking on the paddock just below the Dhammahall.
Cars can cross the flooded section at bottom of hill via existing culvert, and then cut accross to overflow parking via this new driveway.

It was built by the same contractor who's doing our stupa foundation. They did the job together with the levelling work at the stupa site on 18 & 19 February.
Gary, supported by the monks, Zeph & Peter & others, also improved drainage and stability of some existing sections, so that hopefully the overflow from our lotus pond in heavy rains will more easily drain, rather than turning the area into a soggy bog.
Improved drainage, plus this new driveway made of 'roadbase' mix of different sizes gravel and sand, should allow us to use the overflow parking even in heavy rain/flooding ⛈️😊☔
