We are very happy that Ajahn Karuniko found time to visit Dhammagiri from Tuesday, 25 March until Monday, 31 March during his international travels.
This is an excellent opportunity for the supporters of Dhammagiri to meet with him and benefit from his Dhamma teachings that he will share with us. He will conduct many of our regular sessions during his stay.
Please note that there will be no 10.30 am almsoffering & Dhamma sharing on Wednesday 26 March, as we're planning to take Luang Por on an outing.
If in doubt, you can always check our updated program for every day on our calendar.

The statues have been custom moulded and cast in Thailand. We're very happy how well the artist, Khun Born, succeeded in capturing the Indian Gupta style, which is not an easy thing to do for such a small statue (only 11cm high/2.5 inch across knees).
Indian Gupta art (around 5th century CE) does not aim at relistic representation, but instead is focussed mainly on expressing the sublime inner qualities of the Buddha, like wisdom, peace, calm and compassion. Appearance of the statue is highly refined, with the sublte garments smoothly covering the body.
We will install four statues in circular niches in the upper section of Dhammagiri Stupa:
Abhaya Mudra/Gesture of Imparting Fearlessness (one hand raised palm outwards) Facing East, the first statue visible when approaching the stupa
Bhūmi Phassana/Earth Touching = Māra Jina Mudra/Defeat of Māra Gesture Facing South, second statue visible when circumambulating
Varada Mudra/Gesture of Bestowing Blessings (one hand on knee facing outwards) Facing West, third statue visible when ciruambulating
Samādhi Mudra/Meditation Gesture Facing North, third statue visible when ciruambulating
Ajahn Karuniko was born in Greater Manchester, UK in 1953. After graduating in Electronic Engineering in 1975 he worked for several years before coming to take up residence as a novice at Cittaviveka in 1982.
He became a bhikkhu in 1984 at Cittaviveka with Ajahn Sumedho as his preceptor. He has also spent 3 years with Luang Por Anan at Wat Marp Jan in Tailand. From 2014 until 2019 Ajahn Karuniko served as the abbot of Cittaviveka.
Ajahn Moneyyo lived for several years with Ajahn Karuniko at Cittaviveka. He is looking forward to welcoming an old friend, who has been his 'Reciting Teacher' ('Kammavācariya') during his ordination as a monk, and who remained a senior 'Kalyāṇa Mitta' (Dhamma Friend) to him in his junior years as a bhikkhu.
Cittaviveka is the first monastery of the tradition of Ajahn Chah outside of Thailand. Ajahn Chah has personally visited the property, and provided guidance and encouragement to Ajahn Sumedho during the very difficult foundation and renovation period.
